Dortmund to sign Hertha’s star striker

  • Hertha Berlin striker Adrian Ramos has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal this summer
  • The Colombian, who joined the Berliners in 2009, has scored 16 times in the top flight this season
  • He is expected to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski, who will leave BVB to join Bayern in the summer

Dortmund - Following their heart-breaking exit from the UEFA Champions League, Borussia Dortmund have signalled their intent for next season by announcing the summer signing of Colombian striker Adrian Ramos.

The 28-year-old, who is currently plying his trade with Hertha Berlin, will join the eight-time German national champions on July 1, 2014 after agreeing to a four-year contract with the Schwarz-Gelben.

‘Exceptional footballer’

“Adrian Ramos is an exceptional footballer and a top goalscorer in German football,” said BVB’s sporting director Michael Zorc, who met with the player and his agent earlier this week. “He fits perfectly with Dortmund’s requirements.”

Ramos has scored 32 times and provided a further 18 assists in 89 top-flight appearances for the capital city side, but has enjoyed a purple patch throughout the current campaign, finding the back of the net 23 times in 29 outings in all competitions.

Ramos arrived at Hertha in the summer of 2009 and is a full Colombian international, scoring two goals in 23 appearances. He is expected to help offset the departure of Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, who will join FC Bayern München at the end of the season.
