Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 left-back Christian Fuchs faces an indefinite spell on the sidelines after undergoing outer meniscus surgery on his injured right knee.
Dr. Peter Lechenauer, who carried out the procedure in the 27-year-old's hometown of Salzburg, deemed the procedure a success, but was unable to confirm when the Austrian international will be able to return to action. A further diagnosis will be made in a month's time following an MRI scan.
Club mate Jefferson Farfan, meanwhile, has been ruled out of Schalke's upcoming trip to FC Augsburg after sitting out last weekend's 4-0 win over 1899 Hoffenheim with a niggling knee complaint.
The Peruvian international, who has scored eight goals and laid on two assists in 18 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, is unlikely to return to team training until next Wednesday at the earliest.
