  • After Freiburg's Matchday 23 draw at Hertha, Matthias Ginter reflected delightfully on his first-ever call-up to the senior Germany squad
  • Hertha's Levan Kobiashvili, formerly a Freiburg player, was happy with a point, admitting "It wasn't a pretty game from either side"

Berlin - SC Freiburg's Matthias Ginter was happy to have secured a clean sheet in the club's 0-0 draw at Hertha Berlin on the same day that he received his first call-up to the senior Germany squad. The Berliners' Levan Kobiashvili, meanwhile, was content to settle for a point at the Olympiastadion.

SC Freiburg

Matthias Ginter: The main thing for us was to stay solid at the back and we did that well. We had a few chances at the other end but it was an even game so we'll take the point.

On his call-up to the Germany squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Chile:

I found out from Joachim Löw when he called our hotel last night, and our head coach Christian Streich then confirmed it later. He was just as pleased as I was. It's a great thing for me, for him [Streich] and for SC Freiburg. It's definitely surprising for me but it's a great feeling to be with the seniors. I don't know if I'll celebrate tonight, I'm exhausted from the game!

Oliver Baumann: "I'm happy with the clean sheet. It was a disciplined performance for the whole game, not like Augsburg last week when we gifted them goals in the last 20 minutes.

Hertha Berlin

Levan Kobiashvili: We had chances, but overall it wasn't good enough from us, especially in front of our own fans. We kept Freiburg at arm's length but it wasn't a pretty game from either team so a point is ok.

Peter Niemeyer: We wanted the maximum from our home games. We didn't create many chances. Away from home we're able to make the most of the fewer chances we create, but it's sadly not the case at home.
