Germany international Mario Götze and his agent Volker Struth informed Borussia Dortmund a few days ago that Götze wishes to trigger his release clause and move to FC Bayern Munich on 1 July 2013. "We're obviously disappointed beyond measure, but would emphasise that both Mario and his agent have acted strictly within the terms of the contract," said Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

In tandem with head coach Jürgen Klopp, sporting director Michael Zorc is urging all Borussia Dortmund fans to offer Mario Götze the unconditional support they would give to any other player over the final games of the season, above all in Wednesday evening's vital Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Real Madrid.

As of the current moment, no official representative of Bayern Munich has been in contact with Borussia Dortmund regarding the matter.
