Bayern to play Barcelona friendly

FC Bayern's Franck Ribery (l.) and Lionel Messi will renew acquaintances in the summer

Munich - As if the impending arrival of former FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola wasn't enough for FC Bayern Munich, the Catalans' entire team will land in the Bavarian capital in the summer for a friendly match.

The final details of FC Bayern's belated 60th birthday present to president Uli Hoeneß were tied up at a council meeting of the European Club Association (ECA) in Doha, Qatar.

Charitable cause

The club's chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reached an agreement with Barcelona president Sandro Rosell for the two sides to meet on 24 July 2013 in Bayern's Allianz Arena, with the kick-off time still to be determined. All proceeds will go to a charitable cause of Hoeneß' choosing.

"I'm really looking forward to the match," said Hoeneß. "I'd like to thank the board for this for 60th birthday persent and I'm especially happy that the proceeds will be going to support social projects."
