Frankfurt/Main - Stability and continuity at the top are key concepts for the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and the league's supervisory committee has accordingly agreed an early contract extension with chief executive Christian Seifert, through to 30 June 2017.
"Christian Seifert has deployed his undisputed qualities to oversee the consistent development of the DFL since taking up his executive role. This contract extension is a logical response to the excellent work of recent years," commented League Association president and DFL supervisory committee chairman Dr. Reinhard Rauball. Christian Seifert joined the DFL executive on 1 February 2005 and was appointed CEO in July of the same year.
In addition, Holger Hieronymus has asked to be allowed to step down from his post on the executive on 30 September 2012, ahead of the original schedule, and the supervisory committee has acceded to his request. " Holger Hieronymus has been of great service to the league in many ways over the past few years and deserves our heartiest thanks," Dr. Rauball said. Holger Hieronymus took up his place on the executive on 1 February 2005, overseeing match operations and licensing.
Andreas Rettig will, as planned, join the DFL executive on 1 January 2013, taking charge of match operations and licensing from that point onwards. In the interim period through to the end of 2012, director of match operations Andreas Nagel will coordinate match organisation and licensing on a provisional basis, in conjunction with Christian Seifert.
