Mönchengladbach - Borussia Mönchengladbach and head coach Lucien Favre have reached an agreement on an early contract extension after the Swiss native helped guide the Foals to a top four finish in the Bundesliga last season.
The new contract has tied the 54-year-old to the club until June 2015. "I have been in talks for a long time with the club's board and management and am pleased about having signed a contract extension and the delightful challenges that lie ahead of us," said Favre who took over at the helm in February 2011. The Swiss head coach went on to steer the Foals clear of the relegation battle before inspiring his young and energetic side to clinch the UEFA Champions League play-off spot in the most recent Bundesliga campaign.
Favre has won great acclaim for turning Gladbach's fortunes around, a fact that has not gone without notice at the club. "Lucien Favre is definitely the right head coach for Borussia and we're delighted that we can continue further down the path that together we had set before ourselves," said sporting director Max Eberl.
