An up-and-down few weeks for the Bundesliga's big two of recent years helped make November a month to remember for record-breaking promotees Leipzig. The ongoing progress of last-season's play-off survivors Frankfurt is a scarcely less remarkable tale, while Patrick Owomoyela heads for the capital to interview Hertha's sporting all- rounder.

Mixed Emotions

November was a month of patchy fortunes and similarly mixed feelings for both Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund. The Black-and-Yellows came out on top in der Klassiker but followed that up with a defeat at direct rivals Eintracht Frankfurt. For their part, Bayern bounced back to beat Bayer 04 Leverkusen and at least end an otherwise underwhelming month on a positive note.

Three wins in November made it seven on the trot for RB Leipzig, leaving them still unbeaten after Matchday 12 and top of the table for good measure. The Saxon newcomers are enjoying a quite sensational introduction to life in the Bundesliga and Germany's football elite have taken due note – with Bayern and Dortmund both making a point of acknowledging Leipzig's credentials as viable title contenders.

Interview of the Month

Hertha Berlin's top scorer last season, Salomon Kalou returned from a difficult personal period to start the month with a hattrick against Mönchengladbach. But football is by no means the Ivorian forward's only sporting passion, as Patrick Owomoyela discovered when they met up at a Berlin boxing club; and naturally, Owo arrived in the capital complete with a made-to-measure challenge for his interviewee of the month.

Golden November

Having scraped over the line via the play-offs last season, Eintracht Frankfurt are a team transformed this time around. Victory over Dortmund gave the Eagles a 100 percent return for November, leaving them fourth in the table and remarkably on course for a tilt at the Champions League. FC Schalke 04 view that kind of territory as their natural domain but five straight defeats for starters left them a long way off it. Now though, the Royal Blues are very much on the up again – unbeaten in seven games in the league and likewise with a maximum points haul over the month past.
