- Bobby Wood back in the USMNT starting line-up following suspension.
- Bundesliga duo John Anthony Brooks and Fabian Johnson absent through injury.
- Christian Pulisic appears as a second-half substitute again, but USA lose and finish fourth.
There was to be no final flourish from Copa America Centenario hosts USA, who missed out on a podium spot after losing 1-0 to Colombia in the third-place play-off in a match both teams ended with ten men.
USA 0-1 Colombia
Goals: 0-1 Bacca (31')
Hertha's John Anthony Brooks and Borussia Mönchengladbach's Fabian Johnson were left on the bench after sustaining minor injuries last week, but Hamburger SV's Bobby Wood returned to the starting line-up following suspension. The USMNT held their own for most of the half against Los Cafeteros but were carved open in the 31st minute, as James Rodgriuez's lofted pass played in Santiago Arias, who crossed for Carlos Bacca to tap in.
Jürgen Klinsmann's side were much brighter after the break and had a number of promising openings, but Wood's shot against the post was the closest they came to scoring. Borussia Dortmund teenager Christian Pulisic was brought on for the final quarter of an hour and again looked comfortable on the international stage, but ultimately the USA could not force an equaliser and had to settle for fourth place.
