"Hello people!!

And welcome to my blog!! First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. It is a great honor for me to be helping the Bundesliga covering a little piece of what the Copa America has to offer. It is such a huge event here in America, so it's pretty hard to cover all the information around it (mainly because every game is in a different location around the country... and I cannot manage to be everywhere... Yet!! Lol!).

But still... Being here and being able to stay close to Mexico's national team lets me live an incredible experience. And it is incredible not just because of the games or because of football (which I absolutely adore and it's one of my biggest passions!!) but because I get to feel an amazing atmosphere. I meet great, patriotic and passionate people, I see nervous kids smiling everywhere, so excited about watching their idols play. People from the US that love football and people from South America that travel all the way to the United States to support their flag and their colours! Yes, I know!! I am so lucky!!!

Well, sticking to the point... With this blog I am going to try to show you a little piece of Copa America. The little piece that I can live every day here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! So follow us and I will definitely try my best to make you feel and live this incredible experiences as if you were here. We just arrived in LA, so pretty cool stuff coming soon!! See you around!

Wednesday 8 June - pre-match interview with Chicharito

After beating Uruguay 3-1 in their opening match at the Copa America, Mexico face Jamaica in their second Group C encounter on Thursday. Lucia caught up with Chicharito for his thoughts on the game.

Lucia: Javier, how was training today?

Chicharito: Good. It's very good for us to go to the stadium the day before a match to know about the pitch we're going to play on, to feel it, to train on it and to see which kind of boots we need to wear. You get more involved about what's going to happen.

Lucia: And how is the pitch?

Chicharito: It's very good. It's a proper soccer, or football stadium, so the conditions are better.

Lucia: And what about the match tomorrow?

Chicharito: It's a very important match for both teams. We beat the team leading CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying and now we're going to play against Jamaica, a team that has improved a lot over the years. They did very well in the Gold Cup and reached the final against us. We beat them but I think it's a very important game for them because if we win then they're almost eliminated, but for us if we win we're pretty much through. We are very motivated because we beat Uruguay.

Lucia: And finally, can you say hello to all your fans who come to see you and say hi, and to the Chicharitas as well…

Chicharito: Yes of course! To all the Chicharitas, to all the Mexican people and to all the fans around the world – it doesn't matter where they're from. Thank you very much for all the support, for coming here and asking for photographs or signatures. Thank you for your support.
