Introduction

"Hello people!!

And welcome to my blog!! First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. It is a great honor for me to be helping the Bundesliga covering a little piece of what the Copa America has to offer. It is such a huge event here in America, so it's pretty hard to cover all the information around it (mainly because every game is in a different location around the country... and I cannot manage to be everywhere... Yet!! Lol!).

But still... Being here and being able to stay close to Mexico's national team lets me live an incredible experience. And it is incredible not just because of the games or because of football (which I absolutely adore and it's one of my biggest passions!!) but because I get to feel an amazing atmosphere. I meet great, patriotic and passionate people, I see nervous kids smiling everywhere, so excited about watching their idols play. People from the US that love football and people from South America that travel all the way to the United States to support their flag and their colours! Yes, I know!! I am so lucky!!!

Well, sticking to the point... With this blog I am going to try to show you a little piece of Copa America. The little piece that I can live every day here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! So follow us and I will definitely try my best to make you feel and live this incredible experiences as if you were here. We just arrived in LA, so pretty cool stuff coming soon!! See you around!

Love,

Lucía"

Monday 6 June: Lucia visits Mexico's Copa opener and chats to Chicharito

She mingled with the fans in Phoenix, and there were plenty of celebrations outside the ground after El Tri got off to the perfect start to the world's oldest continental tournament.

Lucia will have been delighted to see fan favourite Chicharito receive a specially warm reception by the Mexico supporters:

And the party didn't stop there. The players were treated to a rapturous welcome at the post-match meal. And Lucia grabbed a wave from Chicharito too!

Before the game, Lucia was able to use her privileged position to gain an exclusive interview with Chicharito ahead of Mexico's opening game with Uruguay.

Lucia: Javier it's matchday. What are you planning to do now?

Chicharito: Now I'm going to take a nap, because I love to take naps before matches. I love to play at night because of that, but now because we're playing at 5:00 p.m. local time here in Phoenix I only have about one and a half hours to take a nap, then we'll go and eat our lunch and then we'll get ready to go to the pre-match meeting. And then we'll go to the stadium.

Lucia: Is the meeting at the hotel?

Chicharito: Yes, it's at the hotel. And then we'll go to the stadium.

Lucia: Is the stadium far from the hotel?

Chicharito: I don't think so, I think it's around 15 minutes.

Lucia: And the stadium is huge, but it's indoor because of the heat here…

Chicharito: That's a very good thing for us because here in Phoenix right now I think it's between 35 and 40 degrees [centigrade]. So you can imagine if we play in an outdoor stadium it would be very very hot and it wouldn't be humane conditions. But it's a very modern stadium. It's closed and they play NFL games there. They have air conditioning. It also has 70,000 capacity so it's going to be a very good match.

Lucia: What about Uruguay? Are you going to win?

Chicharito: Yes. I hope so, we hope so. I think they are in first position in qualifying for the World Cup in South America in CONMEBOL so it's going to be a very important match for them and for us to start this Copa America very well and hopefully Mexico can get the three points.
