BIG WIN FOR FRANKFURT!

Frankfurt climb to 11th in the table thanks to a gritty second-half performance in which they were clinical with their chances. Silva's goal paved the way for the victory, and a late brace from supersub llsanker sealed the points in the closing stages. The Eagles are now eight points clear of the relegation zone, while Bremen remain second from bottom, three points adrift of outright safety.

SHUTTING UP SHOP

Frankfurt make their final substitution by bringing on defensive midfielder de Guzman for Gacinovic, who plays further forward. They're looking to see the result over the finish line now.
84'

ATTACKING CHANGE

Bremen have made their last throw of the dice by taking off centre-back Vogt and replacing him with 18-year-old striker Woltemade in a bid to turn the game around.

ILSANKER DOUBLES FRANKFURT'S LEAD!

Incredible scenes as Ilsanker, who had only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds after replacing Rode, taps in from a corner to make it 2-0 to Frankfurt.

OVER FROM BITTENCOURT

A loose ball falls to Bittencourt on the edge of the Frankfurt box. He takes a first-time shot but lashes it over the bar.
77'

TWO NEW FACES FOR FRANKFURT

The visitors also make a double substitution and will now play a touch more defensively. Dost comes on in a straight swap for Silva up front, while Sow replaces the more attack-minded Kamada in midfield.

DOUBLE CHANGE FROM BREMEN

Augustinsson and Bittencourt provide fresh legs for the hosts. Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt will be hoping the latter can provide a moment of magic again, having netted the winning goals against both Freiburg on Matchday 27 and Schalke on Matchday 29.
72'

MESSI OR GACINOVIC?

Woah... what a run from Gacinovic! He drops a shoulder outside the Bremen box to skip past Vogt's despairing tackle before jinking his way past another one. Suddenly he only has Pavlenka to beat and it's going to be goal of the season... but he drags his shot wide of the post!
69'

TRAPP TIDIES UP

A long throw into the box causes havoc in the Frankfurt box as it bounces around. Kohr and Hinteregger both go to ground after appearing to clash heads, before Trapp darts out to smother the danger. There's a break in play as Hinteregger receives treatment.
64'

OVER FROM MOISANDER

The hosts try to muster a response and a long ball is floated towards the back post from right to left. Moisander catches it well but gets underneath it and the ball balloons high over the bar.
62'

BREMEN AND RASHICA ON

Selke and Bartels make way up front for Sargent and Rashica, whose services are needed now more than ever after Bremen fell behind.
61'

THIS ONE COUNTS!

Silva puts the visitors in front with a brilliant header at the back post from Kostic's cross. It's his fourth goal in his last five games!

The Frankfurt midfielder arrows the ball into the net from 10 yards after Bremen struggle to clear their lines. He celebrates but the referee blows his whistle for offside. It's checked by VAR and is confirmed as no goal.

GOOD SPELL FROM FRANKFURT

The Eagles are starting to build a bit of momentum as they hold on to the ball in Bremen's half, patiently probing for openings. They're moving around a lot, but Bremen's defence looks very well drilled and is leaving no gaps for the visitors to work in.
48'

MORE OF THE SAME

No changes from either side at the interval and the match has continued in the same vein as the first half: a hard-fought midfield battle with plenty of crunching challenges.

ALL SQUARE AT THE BREAK

No goals but plenty of entertainment so far. It took both sides a while to settle but Frankfurt were on top for a spell after that, with promising openings for Silva and Kamada. Bremen grew into the game as time wore on though and looked the more likely to score. Neither side will be happy with a point, so expect them to go for it after the interval.

SHOT FROM NOTHING

Bartels does very well on the edge of the Frankfurt box. He receives a bouncing ball and has Hinteregger close behind him, but he still manages to get a good shot away that draws a smart save from Trapp.

ADDED TIME

We'll have three extra minutes at the end of the first half.

HARD FOUGHT

Frankfurt have committed 12 fouls so far, Bremen seven.
40'

COUNTER CHANCE FOR FRANKFURT!

Kamada wins the ball deep inside his own half and plays it to Kostic. The winger sprints forward into Bremen's half and tries to threaf a ball through to Gacinovic, with Silva screaming for the pass over on the right. Kostic's ball is intercepted though, and Bremen clear their lines.
38'

OFFSIDE GIVEN

There'll be no penalty as Klaassen was ruled offside before he received the ball. Play continues once again.
36'

VAR REVIEW

There's a break in play while a possible penalty for handball is looked at. Bremen would be the beneficiaries, but Frankfurt suspect there was offside in the build-up. We'll find out shortly...
34'

TRAINING GROUND MOVE FROM BREMEN

Friedl delivers an outswinging corner from the left as part of a routine that looks like it's straight from the training ground, with Gebre Selassie peeling around the back of a group of players to meet the cross. He gets his head on it but can't direct it goalwards and it ends up trickling out for a throw.
30'

HALF-CHANCE FOR KOHR

Silva creates a pocket of space for himself on the left and when his attempted pass to Rode is intercepted the ball falls into the path of Kohr. The Frankfurt midfielder has a first-time shot with his weaker left foot, but it's blocked for a corner.
26'

SELKE THROUGH ON GOAL!

A ball in midfield breaks kindly for Selke and all of a sudden he's in a foot race with Abraham. The Bremen forward tries to cut across the defender to have a clear path to Trapp's goal, but Abraham shows a good turn of pace, matching Selke stride for stride to clear the danger.
23'

SELKE TESTS TRAPP

The Bremen forward beats the offside trap and sprints down the right-hand channel. He gets into the box and drills a low shot towards the near post that Trapp does well to block for a corner.
21'

KAMADA JUST TOO SHORT

A nice break down the left from Frankfurt ends with Silva floating a cross into the box for Kamada. The Japanese midfielder has timed his run brilliantly, but the cross is just too high for him - he'd have had a free header on goal otherwise.
15'

CLOSE FROM KLAASSEN!

Osaka is blocked by three defenders on the edge of the Frankfurt box, but the ball breaks kindly for the onrushing Klaassen, who smacks a first-time shot at goal that Trapp does well to tip around the post for a corner at full stretch.
14'

HINTEREGGER CAUTIONED

The Frankfurt defender goes in a bit too hard on Eggestein for the referee's liking and is booked.
11'

FIRST SHOT FROM SILVA

The Frankfurt forward gets his first sight of goal as he's played into the right-hand side of the box. He gets a shot away but Pavlenka saves well at his near post.
9'

ENCOURAGING FROM KOSTIC

The Frankfurt left-winger has found himself in space wide on the left twice now, and got a decent ball into the box on both occasions. Bremen will need to be wary of letting him get his eye in, as he's been the Eagles' chief attacking outlet all season.
5'

BREMEN HARRYING

Frankfurt are usually known for their ferocious high pressing, but it's Bremen doing just that right now. Selke and Osako are putting early pressure on the Frankfurt defence, forcing their visitors to fire long balls forward to clear the danger. No chances yet to speak of, but promising stuff from the hosts.
3'

BARTELS BOOKED

The Bremen forward goes into the referee's book for a late sliding challenge on Gacinovic. Both teams are still trying to settle here.

MILESTONE GAME

This will be the 100th Bundesliga meeting between these teams. Bremen have the upper hand historically with 42 wins. There have been 22 draws, while Frankfurt have triumphed 35 times.

THE STAKES

Avoiding relegation is the name of the game for these two. Bremen have played more top-flight games than any other team in the league's history (1894), but are in danger of slipping down to Bundesliga 2. Currently second bottom on 25 points, a win here would take them level with Mainz in 15th. Visitors Frankfurt are a bit higher up in 12th on 32 points, but had not won in six games before beating Wolfsburg 2-1 on Saturday.

WHY A MATCHDAY 24 FIXTURE?

This game was originally scheduled for the end of February but was put back after Frankfurt's Europa League game away to RB Salzburg was pushed from a Thursday to a Friday due to a heavy storm. As this fixture was planned for a Sunday, the Eagles would not have had enough time between games to recover.

BREMEN TEAM NEWS

Bremen boss Florian Kohfeldt has shaken up his front line following a busy week of fixtures. Milot Rashica, Josh Sargent and Leonardo Bittencourt have all dropped to the bench, with Yuya Osako, Davie Selke and Fin Bartels all coming in. It's a massive moment for the latter, who makes his first start in 907 days (since December 2017) after setbacks following an Achilles tendon rupture.

FRANKFURT TEAM NEWS

It's largely as expected from Eagles head coach Adi Hütter, with in-form striker Andre Siva - who has three goals in his last four outings - starting up top ahead of Bas Dost. The only surprise is Almamy Toure, who looks to be starting as a right wing-back, as Danny da Costa, Timothy Chandler and Erik Durm have been preferred there for the majority of the season.
