Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart played out perhaps the game of the season in Signal Iduna Park. With the scores level at 3-3, <br> the home side looked set for three points when Ivan Perisic (c.) put them 4-3 up three minutes from time... ...but Christian Gentner's last-gasp shot robbed the champions of two points towards their title defence in a game that was the stuff of Bundesliga legends That setback aside, Dortmund were building up a real head of steam after a patchy first season-half. Seven straight wins coming out of the winter break was a new Bundesliga best-mark - with goals from Jakub Błaszczykowski and Shinji Kagawa (l. to r.) earning BVB win no. 7 against Mainz 05 It was eight years and 14 matches since Bayer Leverkusen had last beaten record champions Bayern Munich, but that was all about to change on Matchday 24... ...as late goals from Stefan Kießling (l.) and Karim Bellarabi sealed Leverkusen's 2-0 victory, reviving their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League After that though, things did not go Bayer's way...and in the wake of four consecutive defeats, the club parted company with head coach Robin Dutt In marked contrast, Bayern responded to the defeat by going on to win their other four games in March, with Mario Gomez leading from the front The prolific striker's view might be obscured here, but he dusted himself down and bagged three in a 7-1 dismantling of 1899 Hoffenheim... ...which Bayern followed up with a 6-0 victory at Hertha Berlin, with Arjen Robben the hat-trick hero in the capital, this one coming from the spot That run helped reduce the gap on table-toppers Dortmund to three points, and with the two <br> heavyweights set to clash in April, Bayern's fate was thus in their own hands again At the other end of the standings, bottom-placed 1. FC Kaiserslautern reacted to a string of defeats by installing former VfB Stuttgart midfield maestro Krassimir <br> Balakov in place of Marco Kurz as head coach near the end of March. Kaiserslautern would, however, go on to lose the next five games...
