The combative captain first joined the Flingeraner in 2002 and became a first-team regular
the following year as the Rhineland club won promotion to the Regionalliga Nord in 2004. Fortuna spent five years in the third tier between 2004 and 2009, with Lambertz (r.) at the heart of their endeavours. Dsseldorf and Lambertz (l.) experienced just one season of the newly-christened 3. Liga in 2008/09, winning promotion to Bundesliga 2 at the end of the campaign. An incredible home run and two seasons later, Fortuna found themselves on the cusp of the Bundesliga.
Lambertz (l.) subsequently captained them to play-off success against Hertha BSC Berlin at the end of last term. Lambertz then put his name into the history books when he captained Fortuna to a 0-0 draw with VfB Stuttgart on matchday three of the 2012/13 Bundesliga season.
